How to Record TikTok Lives Automatically

To record TikTok Lives automatically, add the creator's TikTok profile URL to a livestream DVR such as Obskura and leave the desktop app running. Why ordinary screen recording is not automatic

A phone screen recorder or OBS can capture a LIVE that you are already watching, but both require you to notice the broadcast, open it, and start recording. A TikTok LIVE can begin while you are asleep or away from your desk. Automatic recording needs a background monitor that repeatedly checks the creator's channel and starts the capture for you.

Step 1: Add the TikTok creator

Step 2: Leave monitoring enabled

Keep Obskura running on a computer with an internet connection. The app periodically checks whether the creator is live. When it detects a broadcast, it starts downloading the stream and shows the target as recording. When the LIVE ends, the file is finalized in your local recording folder and is ready to play.

If you monitor many creators, assign a higher priority to the channels you care about most. Also make sure the computer will not sleep, the recording drive has free space, and Obskura is allowed to keep running in the background.

Step 3: Sign in only when a LIVE is restricted

Public TikTok Lives do not normally need a TikTok login. For an audience-restricted or subscriber-only LIVE, click the shield icon in Obskura's left sidebar, choose Log in to TikTok, and sign in through the Chrome window that opens. Obskura stores that session locally.

The signed-in account must already be allowed to watch the stream. A subscriber-only LIVE still requires an active subscription; automatic recording does not bypass TikTok access controls. Restricted streams can also briefly show the account as a viewer, so use a separate account if that matters to you.

How to avoid missed TikTok LIVE recordings

• Prevent sleep: a sleeping or powered-off computer cannot detect or record a stream.
• Check the saved URL: use the creator's profile, not a video, search, or shortened sharing link.
• Keep storage available: long Lives can create large files, especially at high resolution.
• Watch for TikTok verification: if channels that are visibly live show "no live available" with a bot icon, TikTok may be rate-limiting your IP.
