How to Auto-Record Your Favorite Streamers (Just Paste the URL)
The best moments happen on streams you weren't watching. By the time you hear about a clutch play or a wild moment, the stream's over and the VOD might be gone. The fix is to stop trying to catch streams live and let Obskura record them for you, automatically, the second a channel goes live.
Add a streamer in one step
Open the Recording page and you'll see an Add Stream box at the top. Paste the channel's URL — the one with their username or handle in it — and hit Add Stream (or just press Enter). That's it. Obskura now watches that channel and starts recording on its own whenever they go live. No babysitting, no manual start.
What you paste depends on the platform:
- Twitch: the channel URL, like
twitch.tv/username. - Kick: the channel URL, like
kick.com/username. - YouTube: a channel or handle URL such as
youtube.com/@handle. Obskura checks what's live — if one stream is on, it adds it automatically; if there are several, you pick from a quick list; if nothing's live, it saves the channel and waits for the next stream. - TikTok and more: plenty of other platforms work too, so you can add channels from beyond the big three.
Set it and forget it
Once a channel is added, it shows up in your targets list with a live status badge so you can see at a glance who's online and who's currently recording. Obskura's watcher quietly polls your channels in the background and kicks off a recording the moment one goes live — capturing straight to disk as a standard MP4 file you fully own.
This is the whole "never miss a stream" idea: you build a list of the streamers you care about once, and the recordings just pile up on their own. (Here's more on why recording locally beats relying on platform VODs.)
Tell Obskura who matters most
If you follow a lot of channels, add a priority to the ones you never want to miss. When two streamers go live at the same time, priority decides who wins, so your most important captures are protected.
A quick setup checklist
- Open the Recording page.
- Paste a channel URL into Add Stream and press Enter.
- Repeat for every streamer you want to follow.
- Set priorities on your must-have channels.
- Walk away — Obskura records each one automatically when they go live.
Everything runs locally on your machine, so your recordings stay private and there are no caps on how many channels you watch. See the full feature set, or compare Obskura with LiveRec if you're deciding between tools.
